Family Centered Systems of Care (FCSOC) is a demonstration project in Reno County whose goals are to reduce out-of-home placement; reduce the length of time children are in foster care; reduce the number of children placed in out-of-home care for reasons other than safety; and increase the number of children in imminent risk of out-of-home placement who remain in their own home with community-based supports.

Families and staff from community supports in Reno County will work together to improve the child welfare system, keeping the project goals in mind. Family Advisory Committees meet the fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at PrairieStar Health Center.

Male Involvement Network:

Contact Information:     (620) 663-8484

The Male Involvement Network is a network of interested citizens and community service agencies that provide support for men in Reno County. The MIN provides resource and referral information for men in the following areas: Education, Employment, Family/Child Support, Health, Housing, Legal, Mediation Access and Visitation, and Outreach/Case Management.  The MIN also offers a Fatherhood Support Group for dads, which meets at PrairieStar every other Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

The education component of the MIN is provided by the Fatherhood Project of Reno County. The Fatherhood Project offers free educational seminars to men which help them identify their fathering strengths and weaknesses, provide suggestions on connecting with children, and include practical tips on being a better dad. The Fatherhood Project also sponsors a picnic supper during Hutchfest each year.

Contact PSHC for more information about any of these services or to register to attend a meeting.
